A 5 Day Campervan Adventure

Our 5 day road trip taking in some of Ireland's most famous sites like the Ring of Kerry and The Burren

Ireland is widely recognised as one of the most scenic holiday destinations in the world, however, add a rich history to the attraction of the wonderful natural vistas and you have the perfect setting for a campervan hire trip. If you were only allowed 5 days to complete that trip, what would be the ideal itinerary? We have a suggested route that will satisfy your craving for all things Irish.

Day 1 - Meath to the Cliffs of Moher

Take temporary ownership of your campervan from Rambling Rover HQ and set out west in the direction of the Cliffs of Moher. This famous landmark soars 700 feet above the waves of the Atlantic Ocean and will provide some of Ireland's most awe-inspiring views. The views only get better as one explores the area, so set aside some time to take in one of Ireland's favourite destinations. Stay in Nagles Camping in Doolin for some luxury camping. See our list of the best campsites in Ireland.

Day 2 - Leaving the Cliffs of Moher for The Ring of Kerry

After a day of exploring the natural wonders of the Cliffs of Moher, it's time to head south in anticipation of enjoying The Rings of Kerry. During your time on the road, you will be delighted by some of Ireland's most iconic landscapes. Rolling hills, traditional villages, and ocean views that leave one spellbound are all part of the scenic drive toward The Ring of Kerry. Take your time and stop to explore quaint villages or simply soak up the atmosphere of this breath taking land.

Day 3 - From The Ring of Kerry to The Burren

Day three's campervan drive will see you heading north towards The Burren, a landscape that is unique to the Emerald isles and filled with animals and plants that are sure to enthral the visitor. The Burren is also home to some of Ireland's most important archaeological sites. This is an area that will reward a day's exploration, and delving into its history. Learn a little bit more about it here.

Day 4 - From The Burren to Galway City

The penultimate day of your excursion will see you heading west toward Galway City. This friendly and quaint city is well known for its historic buildings, colourful streets, and pulsating cultural attractions. You should plan to spend at least a day exploring and basking in the relaxed atmosphere of Galway City. Have breakfast, lunch or dinner at Ard Bia.

Day 5: Leaving Galway City and returning to Meath

A slow drive back to Dublin to return your faithful campervan will still give you plenty of time to explore the city and its many famous landmarks and other attractions. There is plenty to see like the Guinness Storehouse or museums. Try out something a bit different like St. Mican's church or the Chester Beaty Library.

A motorhome hire adventure that allows for exploration of some of Ireland's most unmissable landmarks is the perfect way to experience the wonders of this fascinating country. Whether you're on the Cliffs of Moher, gazing out over the ocean, embracing the beauty and history of The Ring of Kerry, or exploring a charming boutique in Galway City you will be making memories to last a lifetime.
