After your first night in Athlone, drive towards Lough Ree to see one of the biggest lakes in the Irish Midlands. The lake and environment nearby are remarkably serene and are surrounded by rolling hills, making it the ideal spot to relax and enjoy the natural attractiveness this place has to offer. You can choose to sit and relax or go for a dip in the lake.

Spare the fourth day of your excursion to drive east towards Birr. Birr is an attractive town, popular for its castle and gorgeous gardens. You will also enjoy the town’s rich history and cultural heritage. We recommend that you spend the rest of your day visiting the local attractions and discovering what the town has to offer.
